Zalamon, the lizard rebel in the far east of Zao, needs a softskin to do what his people cannot: steal a tactical map, scout the lost temple, spy on the village, poison the rice, crack the stone riddle and hold the gate against the Phantom Army. Every step is mission → yes with him; his door only opens once Ztiss has recruited you in The New Frontier.
Zalamon sits one floor down at 33354, 31410, 8. The tactical map is on the shelf in the lizard camp north of the Dragonblaze Peaks at 33281, 31219, 7 – Lizard Zaoguns guard it. Bring it back.
Climb the Temple of Equilibrium and take the hidden stairs down on the far side to the tile at 33177, 31193, 7 among the Lizard Chosen. Report.
Step into three buildings of the village north of the peaks: the fish store at 33229, 31157, 7, the weapon cellar at 33228, 31151, 8 (break the wooden bars) and the barracks at 33257, 31174, 7. A Tome of Knowledge waits upstairs in the north-eastern house at 33247, 31161, 6.
Take the flask of poison from the chest in Zalamon's store room at 33318, 31410, 8 and use it on the water of the northern rice field at 33292, 31122, 5.
In the building east of the rice fields go down to the floor of strange symbols at 33357, 31123, 5. Tell Zalamon about the symbols, take the flask of extra greasy oil from the same chest and use it on the levers at 33349, 31123, 5. Report: Zalamon hands you a Tome of Knowledge.
The blue flame below the lever room at 33356, 31124, 7 now leads to the gate area. Go up the stairs at 33265, 31116, 8, then step on the four empty statue plinths at 33258, 31080, 8, 33266, 31084, 8, 33259, 31089, 8 and 33263, 31093, 8 (“a clicking sound”). Three waves of twenty Eternal Guardians and one of Lizard Chosen follow, thirty seconds apart – survive them and Zalamon pulls you out. Report for the serpent crest.
